Growing up in a middle eastern household definitely had its pros & cons. My parents came to Australia
in the 70’s from Lebanon for the same reasons many others did at the time, to flee the war & for a better life with opportunities. I was born & raised in Australia & am 1st generation Lebanese/Australian.
Even though at the time I didn’t really appreciate everything about my heritage, the one thing I definitely
did & still do love about my heritage was the food. I’ve had a deep love and interest for food for as long
as I can remember. My sister and I would always help my mum in the kitchen and this gave us the skills we needed to create our delicious dishes today.
When I was in high school I started working in a cafe part time, I was there for nearly 10 years
and in the last half of my time there my role changed & I was managing plus doing the cooking
and baking. This experience completely grounded my love for cooking. The joy I felt when customers would compliment my food was an incredible feel & it was like no other.
I remember, at home, my mum would cook the Lebanese dishes and I would cook other cuisines.
I truly enjoyed experimenting with other cuisines and this totally makes sense even today from living
in such a diverse & multicultural country.
After the cafe I moved on to a job in the banking industry, although I enjoyed it, it wasn’t food related and that’s when I knew that my dream would be to own a food type business in the future.
I stayed at the bank, got married to my husband who is of Indian heritage but born and raised in Zambia, Africa. I had my 3 beautiful children who are currently all of primary school age so I have had to put my dream of owning a business on hold until they are less dependent on me.

In the meanwhile, I started my Instagram journey and I have gained loads of opportunities that have lead to great experiences. Apart from posting photos of my food, I also became an ambassador for Leah Itsines when she launched all her Bare Eating Guides. Leah wants to show the world that you can eat delicious food without cutting out food groups without complicated recipes or ingredients. This really resonated with me as it exactly how I feel and want to cook and eat.
I still love to post photos of my food in hopes of showing people that food and cooking doesn’t need
to be complicated to be delicious. And this spans across all different cuisines!
